Eshel Ashkelon is a public kitchen directed by Rabbi C. Atias which serves as a center for seniors. There are 2 daily branches in the city where the seniors enjoy company, programs and mainly hot nourishing daily; meals. These hot meals sustain the lonely and elderly who have no one to look after them. Eshel provides for their needs with dedication.
Daily meals are distributed on wheels to the homes of elderly and infirm at a nominal symbolic fee. Escorting the van laden with hot meals provides a new perspective on kindness. There is blind handicapped man who sits in the corner of his kitchen waiting hungrily for his daily meal which sustains him. The daily precious few minutes of conversation with a human and the hot fresh meals give him a reason to get up each morning. This is only one example of the lives saved and sustained by the hot meals distributed by Eshel Ashkelon
